Scholarship Honoring Kieran Morris

After 34 years in public education, Kieran Morris is putting down the chalk at Carle Place High School.
In honor of Kieran, and his stellar career, the “Making the World a Better Place Scholarship” will be given annually to a graduating senior at Carle Place High School to honor the qualities and characteristics of Kieran Morris: humor, altruism, culture, empathy, dedication, enthusiasm, loyalty, and devotion.
Scholarship Criteria- The Making the World a Better Place Scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduating senior who has demonstrated an understanding of cultural differences and empathy toward the needs of others while providing service to the local and/or global community. The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator through writing, the arts, speech, or humor.
About Kieran:
Kieran Morris is a man of substance and style; from his matching socks and ties, to his impeccably decorated home, Kieran Morris does everything with panache! He has made the world a better place by sharing his passion for literature, language, and culture with literally thousands of students over three decades. Kieran has also served as advisor to Culture Vultures, The Crossroads, and SPARC-Interact Service Learning, and has served as a member of AFG: the Carle Place Schools faculty leadership advisory board, and as a leader in the Carle Place Teachers Association.
Through the Culture Vultures Kieran has made the world a better place by exposing the youth of Carle place to “city life” through plays, museums, ice skating in the parks, and myriad other memorable sojourns in the Big Apple. Through SPARC-Interact Service Learning, Kieran has taken scores of students to help rebuild homes ravaged by Hurricane Sandy, maintain natural environs such as Clark Gardens and Alley Pond Park, feed the homeless in New York City soup kitchens, shovel snow for senior citizens right here in Carle Place, and so many more activities to help make the world a better place.
Everyone knows Kieran as the consummate educator and professional, but he is so much more. Kieran has received two Master's degrees- one from Hunter College CUNY, and the other from Teachers College at Columbia University. Kieran is also a family man to his wife Barbara of 32 years, their son Kieran, and their pup, Will. Kieran spends his time apart from service and academics exploring the highlights of NYC, and sailing the waters of the Long Island Sound.
Kieran Morris is also a man of faith who has "walked the walk" in every aspect of his life. Please help us build a foundation for this scholarship (no amount is too big or too small) which will reward the spirit of Kieran as it is seen in the young people of Carle Place High School who help Make the World a Better Place.
