Kienan's Rehabilitation

Early Sunday morning on November 12th, Kienan and 3 other extended family members were in a single vehicle accident. Kienan suffered a severe injury: a broken neck and spinal cord trauma, causing paralysis from the upper chest down. After 2 surgeries to repair his neck and relieve pressure off his spinal cord, Kienan's mobility is limited. At this time he can somewhat move his arms, but has no fine motor skills (such as finger movement) or much control. The doctors are unsure how much mobility or strength he'll regain with his arms/fingers, but they don't expect much more than that generalized area. Right now his parents and siblings are doing everything they can to support Kienan throughout his recovery and rehabilitation. Staying in Winnipeg and being as close to the HSC as possible is their #1 concern at this time. Kienan will be there for months - missing all of winter, and most of his senior year in highschool. Kienan is determined to prove the doctors wrong and regain as much independence as possible, including trying to walk again. His youth and strong drive give Kienan an advantage to do what the doctors merely say would be a "surprise". To achieve this goal Kienan and his family will have to work relentlessly everyday with physio within the city, and at home. This will require equipment insurance does not fully cover or deem a necessity.
