Ann's Recovery

I work at a wonderful veterinary hospital in Westerville Ohio. I must preface with what an amazing staff we have there and how close we are both professionally and personally! Recently, our dear friend and coworker, Ann, was admitted to the hospital on New Year's Day and minutes after being admitted, became unresponsive. She is suffering from encephalitis consequent to an ear infection gone terribly out of control.  She was admitted into the Neuro ICU.
     The doctors performed surgery to remove infection and relieve the pressure to her brain. Soon after, MRI revealed an abscess in her brain and they performed a second surgery to remove it. She continued to be unresponsive with low brain activity for quite some time.
     She was on a ventilator for weeks and is slowly recovering. Recently she started tracking things with her eyes and  began breathing on her own but  is not yet able to communicate except through hand -squeezing; it will be a long road to her recovery.
     Ann has a husband, Chris, who is a school teacher, & and their son, Danny, who is a college student. Ann has an amazing love for animals and has 6 cats and a Doberman Pincher that is her "baby". 
     As a result of Ann being out of work, her family’s income has been cut in half. We have placed donation jars at work for our clients to donate to Ann’s family. We are hoping to raise money to help with medical bills and to ease some of the burden until they can welcome her home.
     We miss our dear friend at work and our clients do too. She worked at our front desk and was often the first smiling face you would see when you come in. She was the calm voice in the face of emergency situations. She was the organized "stay till things are done", hard-worker. We are hopeful to have her back some day and love her and her family so very much! Please help us support them during this most difficult time! Thank you so very much!
