Kidz Meals On Wheels:
Our mission is to combat hunger in urban communities by providing children with ready to eat nutritious meals in time of crisis.
How is Kidz Meals On Wheels effective:
Most organizations and other initiatives have provided resources where you can come and get food for your family. What we’ve found out is a lot of families are in crisis and these resources aren’t available to them in many aspects.
•Families with larger amount of children can’t travel to these provided pantries
•Families don’t have a vehicle to reach these pantries
•Time allotted for pick up is normally when parents have to be at work
•Children need a parent or guardian to accompany to get assistance.
So our initiative provides a service to meet our families at their homes where less children in urban communities are left without meals.
What do we need to continue operation?
Kidz meals on wheels is an initiative and we don’t run off of federal funding. We rely solely on the community to keep things afloat. Volunteers assist with packing and delivering meals as well as contribute juice boxes fresh fruit and bread to help us with completing meals that meet the nutritional guidelines of our lunches. Our moderator and founder both are small business owner and due to the Covid19 crisis have not been in business other then to package lunches for this initiative. Volunteers have also decreased since the initiative was created due to people becoming more concerned about their own health and safety and being exposed to the virus. We’ve been encouraged to keep a maximum of 10 volunteers in one space designating 50-100 lunches per volunteer to be made and boxed for distribution per day in which we service. Kidz meals on wheels has distributed over 5100 meals to hildren in the community in the pass 3 weeks and are asking for your assistance in helping to make a difference,
