My first trip to the beautiful country of Albania was in 2015 when I was 16 years old. As I stepped into the country, all I could see was beauty. I saw beauty in the dirty streets, poverty, and especially the kids. While I was there, I felt a calling to return. Not only to visit or vacation but to serve the Albanian people the best way I knew how. Since my first visit, I have made three other trips, working in schools and at youth camps in the city.
In the past year and a half at college, God has made His purpose for my life clear. That purpose is to help and love the children of Albania. My ultimate goal is to start a non-profit, after-school program that would work with schools throughout the country. The program would consist of organized sports, tutoring, and mentorship/leadership training for students all taught from a Christian perspective. Hopefully, this program will allow students to reach their full potential academically and athletically as well as instill in them the principles and knowledge they need to master adulthood.
Although establishing this program is my end goal for meeting God's purpose for my life, I must take steps to prepare for this responsibility. I believe the first step to understanding the needs of Albanian students is to be with them. I want to be a “student” of the students, teachers, and staff. I want to understand how their education system operates so that I can effectively plug in and minister to the students. Being able to shadow the Albanian school system, understand the kids, and build bonds in the local community would be a tremendous blessing.
With this in mind, I am formally beginning to plan my return to Albania this May. My trip will cost about $2,400: $1,000 in flights, $700 in hotels, and about $600-$700 for miscellaneous use. Therefore, will you contribute to God's purpose for me and my plans within the country of Albania? I have established two ways in which you can help.
