Giving Children Activities to do in the Hospital

When Benny was 5, he was participating in a karate fundraiser for St. Jude. This fundraiser opened some conversation and led him to ask questions that were more specifically geared towards patients. His main question, “Aren’t they bored?”. His next statement was that he didn’t want anyone to be sick and bored in a hospital, especially kids!
This lit a fire under him and he made it his personal mission to prevent boredom for children who are in the hospital or facing illnesses.
He went to work right away and brought his idea to life. He set up a lemonade stand at a garage sale and asked for donations for his birthday instead of gifts for himself. He wanted to give art supplies, craft kits and small toys to St. Jude.
He personally delivered nearly 1,000 items. When he got back from Memphis, he immediately went to work planning the next “round”.
While giving to local children individually, he also expanded the mission to providing 3 hospitals with 1,000 activity items each. After months of lemonade stands and fundraising efforts, he met his goal in 2018!
Not long after, he expanded his 2019 goal to give to 5 hospitals! Benny’s ultimate goal is to visit every hospital in the state and make deliveries. This isn’t limited to Children’s hospitals but any hospital that takes children as overnight patients.
