Kidney/pancreas transplant

Donation protected
Many of you know that Matt was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at just 6 years old. What you may not know is that he is in the final stage of Kidney Failure. Matt's best chance at survival is a Kidney transplant.  A Kidney transplant from a live donor can last nearly twice as long as one from a deceased donor.
Jan 2018 Matt was evaluated for a second opinion at U of M hospital.  At that point he transferred from Henry Ford to U of M where he felt better cared for.  The Transplant team of U of M, feel he is an ideal candidate for simaltaneous kidney and pancreas transplant although nobody has ruled out a kidney first and pancreas to follow.  Matt started dialysis in July and that's when his wait time started to accumulate.  1-2 years is the average wait to have a kidney panc transplant in MI.
We are anxiously waiting for him to be Called to be transplanted.
This has been emotionally and financially draining.  Matt sees several specialist and still has to go to the dialysis center several times a month.  Each time is $50 per visit plus medication costs and dialysis supplies that aren't covered.
It has been extremely hard and I have dismissed the thought of asking for donations/help with money. I hope most people will understand it is no fun and so hard to be in this position. We have been humbled by the caring, compassionate, kind people in our lives. Whether you can donate or share our page if you can't, we are thankful for you! Thank you for your support!
