Kidney Transplant & Medical Fees

UPDATE: Hi everyone. Following on from mujtabas kidney transplant (donated by his only sister), mujtaba resumed normal life and continued having regular check ups.

In january 2023, Mujtaba tied the knot to his long term friend who had stuck by his side since he first became aware of his condition.

Unfortunately, mujtabas condition has started deteriorating once again.

Tests revealed that there was a severe deficiency of white blood cells (WBC) in his body. Blood was transfused in order to raise the WBC levels.

There were initial signs of recovery after the transfusion. However, blood infection has since been detected, which is being treated alongside everything else. After the transfusion, his creatinine levels have gradually increased from 4 to 6.9.

The decision to place mujtaba on dialysis can not be made until his body shows viable signs of recovery (a rise of WBC).

Dialysis is the viable next step once the body stabilises, however the primary focus is to deflect dialysis, restore kidney function. Kidney meds are also on hold due to infection.

I have attached further medical reports as evidence and request all of you to help in any way u possible can. as i mentioned before, pakistan does not have private or government funded medical treatment, thereofre all medical tests/treatments/medications must be paid for in advance.

Salam all. I am raising money for my first cousin who resides in Lahore, Pakistan (where they do not have the benefit of free medical treatment).

My cousin (Mujtaba Saleem, 26) went into hospital with high blood pressure on 23rd November 2020 at Quality Care Lab & Diagnostic Centre (Zafar Memorial Medicare Centre, 411/1 Defence Ghazi Road, Lahore).

He initially had renel function tests with following results.

UREA - Mujtabas result154 (NORMAL RANGE 10 - 50)

CREATININE - Mujtabas result -18.3 (NORMAL RANGE 0.5 - 1.4).

These tests were completed by Dr. Hussain Farooq (MBBS, FCPS Consultant Haematologist).

Mujtaba is a 26 year old healthy non-smoker, non-drinker - who is the sole source of income in his household (having lost his father to cancer 7 years ago).

Wanting to get a second opinion, the family sought a Radiologist Dr Khalid Javed (contact number 0323 [phone redacted]) of Husnain medical complex. Mujtaba had an abdominal ultrasound and his kidneys were measured at Rt(8.3x4.3) and Lt(7.5x3.8). The ultra sound was conducted by Dr Hira Khalid (consultant radiologist) of Husnain Medical Complex on 25th November 2020.

On the same day, my cousins took Mujtaba to Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer hospital and research centre. Lahore (Johar Town, Lahore). Each result was either the same or higher than the one before.

Still not satisfied, my family went on to get the same tests and more conducted again in Evercare Hospital Lahore (address - D1 commercial, Nespak cooperative housing society, lahore UAN: (051) [phone redacted]32) by Dr. Aizaz Mand Ahmed on 25th November 2020 and all results came back on 26th November 2020.

His creatinine levels were now at 21.32 (double what they should be), therefore he was immediately placed on Hemodialysis to clean waste from his blood that his kidneys are failing to do (a pipe inserted through an artery in his neck as seen on the picture) in Evercare Hospital Lahore by Professor Dr Aizaz Mand Ahmad MBBS, FCPS (Medicine & Nephrology) Consultant Nephrologist on 26th November 2020.

He was also diagnosed with the following by the same doctor on the same day.

Advanced Renal Dysfunction

Anemia

Hyperkalemia

Hypouricemia

Metabolic Acidosis

Cholelithiasis

As Mujtaba's both of his kidneys are failing, this leaves him in a critical condition requiring a kidney transplant. As you must be aware transplants can cost in the region of £50,000 if you are lucky to even find a match. This is the reason why I am trying to raise money with your help.

Our family has dipped in to our savings to help but we are falling short tenfolds. Could I please ask you to donate whatever your budget allow (even £1 will go a long way). I will be posting some more pictures as I get them.

His name is Mujtaba Saleem. He recently finished his masters degree and got a full time job to support his widower mum. He has his whole life ahead of him and with your help, we can make sure that his life is a long one.
