Kidney Fund for Tiranda “Peaches” Plummer

Hello everyone, my name is Tiranda Plummer and I am a Senior Biology Pre-Medicine Major attending Jackson State University. At the age of 9, I was diagnosed with Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), which caused kidney failure. My stepmother lovingly donated one of her kidneys for my survival, and I received my first transplant at the age of 11.

Life was grand, until the Coronavirus pandemic.  In January of 2021, I contracted COVID-19 and was hospitalized for weeks. The virus caused my transplanted kidney to fail and now I am in need of another O-positive(0+) donor. I now find myself once again on dialysis while trying to maintain my normal school activities.

It is important that I complete my senior year at JSU where I am a Dean's List and President's List scholar.  I also play the saxophone in the Sonic Boom of the South, where I have served as section leader for the past three years. I've worked hard to reach this point in my life, and I am determined to not let my medical situation stop my forward progress. I plan to one day becoming a pediatric nephrologist, which is the same doctor that saved my life 10 years ago, so I can do the same for others.

Currently, I am living in a community dormitory on campus. Due to the ongoing pandemic, this puts me at a very high-risk of further complications due to my current medical condition.

The funds I hope to raise will be used for my medical expenses and to relocate my living conditions while I am away from home. I would greatly appreciate it if you could help by donating and/or sharing my story.

Thank you.
