Kidney Transplant Fund for Lori Garrett
Donation protected
My name is Lori. Many years ago I was diagnosed with IGA Nephropathy. After a stroke in 2015 my kidney function started declining at a high rate. Last year I was told by my nephrologist that I was being referred for a transplant and need to start preparing for potentially starting dialysis. In December 2018, I started the process of getting on the transplant list at MUSC. I was approved in March 2019. Over the summer of 2019 my wife, Aly Garrett, started testing to potentially donate me a kidney. On August 15 we received a call from MUSC that Aly was a match! We are scheduled for transplant surgery on September 10, 2019. This process will involve expensive immunosuppressant medications, traveling and hotel stays in Charleston for both Aly and I. We will both be out of work for awhile. Aly is an independent worker and has no benefits with her job. I have no short term disability insurance because they will not cover me due to my stroke in 2015. This is one of the hardest things I have to do asking for help but please consider donating and helping us during this time. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers! Thank you.
