Thank you so much for checking out my fundraising page.

I want to share my story with you to not only help you understand my needs, but to raise awareness of the crippling disease of renal failure.

I had my life planned out- I married my soulmate, created a wonderful healthy boy with her, and looked forward to starting the rest of our lives. Things were going in the right direction when I was suddenly struck by my kidneys failing, and the need to begin dialysis. This stopped my hopes and dreams dead in their tracks. I only had months to prepare for starting dialysis while feeling very sick. There are a couple different dialysis options to choose from, and I chose to take my health in my own hands, and do my own dialysis at home.

I had to undergo surgery to have the dialysis port inserted into my belly, while my wife and I had to complete strenuous training from the dialysis clinic. In addition to that, I was still having to come to the clinic three times a week, at 4 hours each time to stay on top of my blood dialysis until I was ready to be at home on my own. This was challenging to say the least! I didn't get to have much time to prepare before my kidney doctor told me I needed to become dependent on dialysis to live. My amazing wife has been with me every step of the way on this journey while raising our young son, because I have to be wrapped up with the dialysis. Eventually, we got to a point where I was doing the dialysis at home, and we were developing a routine. As with the natural progression of kidney disease, my kidneys are deteriorating every day, which requires longer dialysis therapy, and that much more time away from my family. My wife and I both were working full time up until recently, but the increased need for dialysis made it impossible for me to continue to work full time. For my health, I was forced to leave my job. This has been ok in a sense that I get to spend more time with our son, but it's been financially devastating.

Kidney transplant is our only ticket out of this mess. I began the work up process, and became actively listed for kidney transplant this year at St. David's North Austin Medical Center! My family and I are very hopeful for a transplant soon. Not being able to work, having to support a family, and all on my wife's income has been extremely challenging. I'm asking for help with paying my medical bills, and kidney transplant surgery and aftercare follow up. I want to feel better for this important time in my son's life, when he needs me the most.

Please strongly consider donating to me and my cause. Every penny is helpful beyond words. God bless you.
