No Florida Bear Killings this year

Animal Hero Kids' Wish: Stop Killing Florida's Bears

Animal Hero Kids 4 Bears are kind kids and teens who are eloquent voices against Florida’s shameful mass bear killings. They speak up for the bears at every opportunity; at commission meetings, protests, school projects and on YouTube.  These young advocates have a wish for Florida's bear families not to be killed and need your help funding – they want to start a billboard/ outdoor ad campaign to spread the message, “Don’t Kill the Bears”.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (all hunters) stated, after a massacre of bear families with 3,778 permits sold, and mothers, cubs, even an old blind bear nicknamed grandfather bear were all killed, said the hunt was a "success" and they plan to repeat it in 2016. AnimalHeroKids.org want to get the word out now, many people are unaware of the fact that appointed hunters and land developers are making lethal decisions.

Khendall, a five year old boy, was recognized with the Animal Hero Kids 4 Bears award for paricipating in protests and asking Floridians to attend a memorial for the bears in an endearing video ending with “We love you Florida bears”. http://www.browardpalmbeach.com/news/five-year-old-black-bear-advocate-to-lead-memorial-for-those-killed-in-hunt-7364581

Here's Khendall's message for the bears.

The planned billboard campaign will reach thousands of Floridians with the simple message “Don’t Kill the Bears”

2015 saw over 3,778 bear hunting licenses to kill sold at a hefty profit of $100 for in-state residents & $300 for out-of-state residents.  The FFWCC raked in over $375,000.   Bear advocates monitoring the hunter check stations photographed cubs, nursing mothers and one partially blind bear, nicknamed Grandfather Bear, grimacing, dead, shot, and bloody as their killers weighed them in.

One hunter was overheard saying at a check station that he had to pull the cubs off the mother bear after he killed her.  Another said it was like shooting a cow -  the bear walked towards him expecting to be fed. Hunters’ posts on Facebook discussed the bait station locations where bears had been fed for years before. The FFWCC plans to repeat the carnage in the woods in 2016.

Supporting AnimalHeroKids.org  billboard campaign will spread the word to Floridians that another bear hunt will be yet another carnage in the woods, we must all unite to stop this massacre from happening again!

Help by sharing this on Facebook and Twitter - let's make these compassionate kids wish to help the bears come true!

Animal Hero Kids is a 501(c)3 all-volunteer charity empowering youth to aid animals in need via kindness education programs and recognition awards.
