Her Story:

This is my daughter- single mom to 2 boys ages 7 and 3; who is also in the final stages of adopting my 13 year old granddaughter, as my granddaughters parents choose their own wants and needs over her. Two years ago her older son Easton, at age 5 was viciously attacked by a pit bull in North Augusta, losing both his ears, multiple facial wounds and losing 40% of his right leg muscle. He has had 13 surgeries so far and still requires multiple more surgeries. The medical bills are outrageous even with Medicaid. During  the Corona virus pandemic, Kellie was fired from her 11 plus year job for taking her younger son to the ED after he hit his head and  required stitches. She stayed at home with him the next day because he was not acting himself and did not get an excuse for that day. So she has been out of work since August. Not long after that her car was repossessed because she could not pay the car note- she chose to get groceries and pay the electric bill instead. Her uncle and ourselves helped with that although it was tough on us as well. She is doing all she can to find a job as well as doing deliveries with Instacart. We help her where we can, as well as the people she rents from, but often doesn't have money for some bills and food- she chooses to get food, but then something gets cut off. They rarely get any extra goodies. I would love for to have one Holiday without so much stress and worry. I would love for the kids to eat all they want at Christmas. They have all struggled over the last 2 years, but especially since August. She applied for unemployment which she was told she would get, however that hasn't kicked in yet and she truly feels desperate. If she has to she knows she could move in with us to Evans, Ga., for awhile, but her strong independent self wants the kids to stay where they are, stay in the same schools and not uproot them. Especially Easton who doesn't do well with change since his accident. Anything at all to make Christmas a little brighter for all of them would mean so much so them and us.
