There it is: My student loan debt.
I’m 50 years old and I’ve returned to school a few times to get various degrees. I am so happy to be an administrator at the school where I work, however, by the time I pay this off, I’ll be into my 70’s. The sooner I get this finished, the better it will be for my family.
Anyone who really knows me knows that I hate discussing my debt. It’s a source of embarrassment... no matter how necessary it was to take the loan out in the first place.
I’ve tried refinancing. I’ve spoken to financial experts. I’ve contacted federal student loan helpers. I’ve even spoken to people who claim to be able to help me, but are only interested in getting my social security number.
What’s the bottom line? They can’t help me for one reason or another. It’s disheartening to be constantly told NO, when so many others are getting their loans forgiven.
After speaking with a friend or two, they suggested that I go to GoFundMe.com.
Here’s the pitch:
For every $100 raised, I will post a short video on Facebook of me running one mile AND of my kickboxing lesson at ST3Kickboxing in Monroe, New York. It is also my intention to get my wife and children to join with me by running and kicking.
When I reach my goal of paying off the loan, I will send you a thankyou letter with a before and after picture of myself.
Of course if you want to see the progress, you’d have to friend me on Facebook...if you hadn’t done it already.
I cannot thank you enough for your consideration!
