KI 2 KENYA - operation nappies

Back in 2013 / 14 I went to Kenya to volunteer in the rural communities of Yala. While I was there I visited many villages and was fortunate enough to involve myself in some fantastic community projects improving the health and well being of some incredible locals. When I returned to Australia I started ah initiative called Jambo. The purpose of this initiative was to sell women's apparel made out of Kenyan fabric and send the proceeds back to a health centre facility. This was very successful and I was able to raise enough to help with new lighting systems for the hospital. Something I haven't shared a lot is over the last 3 years and kangaroo island local and I have been making durable re usable nappies for an orphanage in the same region. We have completed quite a few nappies and residents of KI have also donated a generous number of store baught second hand re usable nappies. The help and response has been fantastic. The only issue is I am having an incredible amount of trouble getting these donations back to Kenya. So, I have decided to go back at the end of the year and deliver them myself and hopefully raise enough to also put a little more into projects in the community. It is my goal to raise enough money for my flights and plus enough contribute to another project of my choice. I am a student nurse and have been studying full time / working in direct care so funding and organising this has been very difficult
