Emily's Volunteer Trip to Kenya

Hey everyone! By June 1st I will have completed my first year of medical school and I want to do something rewarding for what will essentially be my last summer of "freedom". My friend Minh and I have decided to apply to a medical volunteer program in Nairobi, Kenya through Agape Volunteers. Agape is a program which focuses on improving the quality of life of those in underserved regions all around the continent. They have various programs that aid in providing volunteers and funding for schools, clinics, orphanages, HIV projects, sports teams and outreach programs. 

Minh and I will be spending four weeks in the capital of Kenya and will spend our days in local clinics assisting with day to day activities at the practice. We will be able to use skills that we have learned throughout this year and apply them to a third world setting, such as dressing wounds, prescribing and distributing medicine, and even assisting births!

The program will cost around 900 dollars, with round trip flights costing about the same price. As I have already accumulated my fair share of debt, with 3 more years to add on to it, I am looking for some donations to help fund this trip. Even a small amount will make a difference.
