Khoti is an initiative that seeks to create change through the fair trade of handmade Mexican products. Khoti seeks to address issues of inequality and exploitation as well, giving artisans the opportunity to invest in their families and communities.
We created an initial GoFundMe that was successfully funded. With those funds we bought sewing machines and irons for the artisans, we also created our website and more. We have now created a new ongoing GoFundMe that will allow us to impart workshops to the artisans, maintain our website, and invest in other projects to help Khoti grow.
We have decided to start giving workshops to the artisans we work with. We wish to support them so they can take control of their situation by learning about running a business, marketing their products, using technology to their favor, and more. In order to do so, we need a budget of about $50 USD per workshop which will cover the transportation to the community and the materials we need. We hope to do these workshops every 2 weeks, which would amount to 26 workshops a year! This would require $1300 in a year. We hope you can support us with this need!
We also hope to raise funds to maintain our website. In order to make it fully usable we need $45 USD per month, so $540 a year! By helping us cover this cost, we can focus on keeping the products affordable and still pay the artisans a fair price.
