Khadijah-tol-Kubra Girls' School

Donation protected
Khadijah-to-Kubra girl’s school is located in the Dariem district of Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province. The school hosts around 320 female students without any building or even tent to be used as a classroom. With the end of the school year quickly approaching, the girls are preparing for their final exams. Unfortunately, Badakhshan is one of the poorest provinces in Afghanistan, meaning that many of these students cannot afford warm clothes to be able to take the final exam. Not only do these girls lack a building in which to meet, but many of them walk hours in the cold just to get to school, as missing the final exam or failing one class can mean quitting school altogether.

Metra Mehran is a Fulbright scholar from Afghanistan, pursuing her masters at Texas A&M University. She has been volunteering in the village in summer of 2013 and 2014. She is in direct contact with principle and the teachers of the school.  Metra will receive the money in her Bank of America account and transfer it to that school via the Western Union. The school will purchase and distribute the clothes to the students. They will send the receipts and pictures for those materials and the recipients. To ensure, Metra has coordinated with the Ministry of Education of Afghanistan too. Luckily the spoke person for the ministry is willing to respond in case of need. His name is Mujib Mehrdad. His contact is: [email redacted].af

Every donation of $20 will provide one student with warm clothes including coat, socks, and shoes.
