Jaye Seiho Morris' Ordination Robes

On March 27, 2015 I'll have finally completed the last phase of my training to become a Zen Priest. This comes after a little more than 20 years. The "Tokudo" (Virtue of the Way) ceremony, will be taking place in Seattle Washington at Choboji Daibaizan.

As a part of this process in this transition and accepting as my principle life-role as priest and monk, there are some things that I will need. The reality is that my position of the last year and a half has been less than optimal and I need help in this part of the process, cause I don't have enough on my own to get there.

I've been working with someone locally who has made Rinzai priest robes for others, at does a great job. They have to be handmade, to fit properly. Karen is in the process of making Winter, Summer and "Casual" robes. Along this this she's making...

- White kimono
- Grey kimono
-  Zagu - (Priest) bowing mat
- Several Jubans (a type of undershirt worn under robes)
- Shoulder Kesa: this reflects the cloth the Buddha wore himself
- Samugi which are the day-to-day clothes that I will be wearing.
- If possible I will try to get a winter kimono.

In Japan there is a process used called "Takuhastu," (support and gifting bowl) which is a means of the community supporting monks and their respective temples. In this spirit and way, I'm asking for your help and support. This is not just a dream for me, but a reality in the making for more than two decades that has finally arrived.

I would appreciate your help and support. In the practice of life, I will do my very best to live and honor this role as priest and monk. I recognize I'm perfectly imperfect, and will continue to aspire to my name my teacher has set for me... Seiho... Clear Peak, like Mount Rainier on a good day.
