Mayo Clinic Trip

As many of you know my dad has been battling a disease for about a year and a half now. He started to lose weight, muscle mass & his ability to walk on his own. His hands were drawn in & it was difficult for him to do everyday tasks like picking things up & holding onto them. He went through many tests & they finally diagnosed him last fall with CIDP.  He had a port put in his chest & has had treatments every month for a week since the diagnosis to slow down the disease. This August I was able to go to a Dr.’s appointment with my Dad & Mom. He was a neurologist specialist who had come to St. Elizabeth from Ohio & spent an hour & a half with my Dad asking questions from the very beginning of his symptoms & checking his feeling & strength in his legs, feet, arms & hands. The specialist was beginning to think that my Dad didn't have CIDP because if he had he wouldn't have the strength in his knees, hips & shoulders that he does. The specialist is referring my Dad to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota for a weeks’ worth of Dr.'s visits & tests. They are the best Dr.'s that my Dad can see & we are trusting that they can give us an answer & hopefully a treatment to heal my Dad. I am flying to Kentucky & my Mom; Dad & I will be making the 10-hour drive to Minnesota & his first appointment is October 23. We will be staying in a hotel for a week near the clinic & will be spending a lot of time there. I am asking for donations for my family since my Dad is unable to work, something he has done his whole life on the farm & my Mom stays with my Dad & is the most selfless, loving caretaker God has ever created. Your donations will go toward gas money, hotel fees & food for the week that we are in Minnesota. Any money left over from the trip would help towards any bills they have.
