Mike's medical expenses in Mexico

It started off as a great first trip to Mexico for Mike and Erin until Mike took sick. Knowing that they had purchased  medical/travel insurance, they thought nothing of going to see the doctor. He had a very high fever and they sent him to the hospital in Playa del Carmen.  After running many tests and three days in the hospital they discovered that he has pneumonia. After the insurance claim was placed, they sent his records to the hospital and discovered that he had been seen a few weeks prior at the doctor at home for chest cold and was put on medication. Since he had been seen for the same issue within 90 days of the trip, the insurance is voided. Mike and Erin were not aware of this clause (as many people aren't I am sure). Before they could leave the hospital they had to pay a large bill and then needed to pay for their own way home. Overall this has cost them close to $10 000 with the bill and the extra flights home. It is very unfortunate and I just wanted to set this up to see if we can help them out a bit with this huge expense. If you can help out in any small way that would be much appreciated.
