Xai's medical fund

Donation protected
On November 27th of 2015 Xai and his wife Xee with their two boys Tristyn and Elijah went to visit family in Manitowoc, WI. Arriving a little after 11:30 pm that night they were catching up with family members, around 1am Xai decided to call it a night and went to bed. Within 5 minutes, a family member entered the guest room where Xai was resting and saw that he was struggling.  When asked if he was okay, he couldn't talk or move. He had become paralyzed on his right side and was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital. What was suppose to be a happy time spent with loved ones during the holiday had turned Xai and Xee's world upside down in one quick second.

At a very young age of 34 years old, Xai suffered from hemmorrhagic stroke. It results from a weakened vessel that ruptures, which bled into the majority of his left brain and started to spread to the right side. The blood accumulates and compresses the surrounding brain tissue and immediately spreads through to the body.  Xai had to be flown to Neenah, WI (1 hour away) for surgery right away. His parents rushed to his side quickly from St.  Paul, MN (5 hour drive to Neenah, WI) that early morning.

After surgery Xai lost his speech and his right side became paralyzed. He wasn't able to leave Neenah until he was stable enough for Therapy. On December 21, 2015, Xai was discharged from Theda Clark Medical Center and returned back to St Paul, MN. However, his journey did not end there, he continued his stay at United Hospital of Sister Kenny Rehab to continue physical, occupational, psychological, recreational, and speech therapy. Towards the end of Janurary 2016, our prayers were answered and Xai was finally able to leave the hospital.

Today, Xai's current condition has improved from 3 months ago; he is mobile by wearing a brace to stabilize his leg, using a quad-cane to support and balance when taking steps, and using a wheelchair when exiting the home. His right arm is still paralyzed, but with home care theraphy (which will take another month) it will help improve his mobility little by little. Simple little things like dressing himself, bathing, or cooking a meal is still a challenge. But each day he is getting stronger moving on with a new day while having a positive attitude.

Likewise with more therapies and many more visits to the doctors, one can only imagine the medical bills adding up. With only one income coming from his wife, Xee, they will need all the help they can get to financially provide for Xai's medical bills.

Xai is a young and loving husband, and father who still has a whole life ahead of him. His young children awaits his recovery so they can talk, laugh, and play together like the old days. Not being able to run around and play with his two boys are now harder to do. Everyday is a learning challenge and a new step for Xai to get better so he can go back to the son, brother, father and husband that we all remember him as.
