Hurricane Florence
Donation protected
Craven County, specifically New Bern and Havelock were devastated by Hurricane Florence. Much of the public infrastructure were heavily damaged, over 7000 homes were lost, and many more considered “unlivable” by FEMA.
Your contribution will allow food, water, emergency supplies, baby formula, amongst other needs to families who were affected by Hurricane Florence.
We have a local restaurant in town that is able to act as a base of operation to serve hot free meals, reached out to other organizations for bulk purchase of supply, and overall have the ability to ship and get resources to the families. However what we lack is the monetary resources to augment the relief aid.
How your contribution will be utilized: Bulk purchases of water, dry food, emergency supplies at the Wal-Mart SuperCenter in Havelock NC. The supplies will then be distributed at Kawapho. Furthermore, your contribution will allow us to purchase bulk quantities of basic needs- deodorant, shampoo, toothbrushes, etc (hygiene kit material) through Blue Bottle Supplies.
Finally, your contribution will allows us to purchase large quantities of ingredients to cook and serve for the community!
10/20 Saturday will be the day that we set up booths for the hygiene kit assembly, have hundreds of boxes of meals ready, and have boxes of goods for donation... all set up at the Westbrooke Shopping plaza!
I went to high school in this small town and would come back to visit throughout my UCLA days as well and professional days, my family still lives here and so does a plethora of wonderful people!
I will be purchasing as well as finalizing the organization for the event the first 2 weeks of October and then flying to New Bern-Havelock, NC on 10/16 to finish preparations!
Thank you for contribution and please feel free to contact me personally for more information on what you can do to help! October 16th-20th we will have constant live broadcast to show your generosity in action.
