Prayers for Olive

Our little angel Olive Kate came into this world 10 weeks early only weighing 1lb 13 oz.  After spending 102 days in the NICU and a lot of prayers she finally was able to come home.  During her NICU stay she was unable to maintain her hemoglobin having to receive blood transfusions every 3 weeks . Olive is now 9 months old and weighs 9lbs 11oz.  She has continued to receive blood transfusions every 3 to 4 weeks to survive.

She has been recently diagnosed with Diamond Blackfan Anemia (DBA) a rare blood disorder characterized by failure of the bone marrow so her body is unable to produce red blood cells. There is no cure for DBA and very little treatment available. However with the right medical care, people with DBA can live long and healthy lives. DBA is not Olive's only health challenge, due to being born so early she has other medical conditions as well with her heart and kidneys.

Olive is a little fighter and has brought so much love and joy to our family. She has amazed her medical team with how well she has progressed in her development. Despite her small size she has been developmentally on track with all of her milestones. She is the happiest little baby, always smiling and laughing. She is the love of her parent’s lives and they enjoy every waking moment with her.

We are asking for uplifting thoughts and the power of your prayers for Olive and her family. If we all join together we could help lighten the weight that they have been carrying. We have set up a fundraiser to assist Olive and her parents with the numerous expenses and cost associated with her treatment.
