My name is Alex and I'm a year 8 student at De La Salle College in Malvern. My school is conducting a walk-a-thon on Friday 5 April 2019 for the poor and marginalised in our region where the De La Salle Brothers are working. The walk will be about 13km along the Gardiners Creek walking track in a loop extending from Kooyong to East Malvern.
The money raised will go to aid missionary projects in countries throughout Asia and PNG. The Brothers operate in Australia, India, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand. My school, De La Salle, has particular relationships with PNG and India where our students visit to engage in construction work to help the local communities. Most of these programs are about educating, feeding, housing and helping these poorer communities.
