Key to Return

Norma Cohen  and Stephen Tiller  are raising funds in support of an Arts Council application to develop Key to Return, Norma's wonderful script written after her extensive visit to the West Bank and Israel before lockdown with the Israeli Committee against House Demolitions - ICAHD . It will highlight a vivid array of fictional Palestinian characters coping with the Occupation of their homeland. A weeklong research and development workshop provisionally planned for December 2021 will feature six actors, the director and writer, plus an acclaimed choreographer, composer/musician and mask expert. It will include a performance at the end of the week to which all donors and supporters will be invited. Following the workshop, a full scale production will be developed. Stephen has worked extensively in Palestine with the Gaza-based Ayaam al Masrah  Young People's Theatre Company. The final script will be a fast-moving, interactive trip through Palestine with keen-eyed tour-guide Ahmed and his audience of tourists encountering a host of local people, alive and dead, played by a diverse cast of actors. We will pay each participant in the workshop Equity and industry rates.
