Kevin's Christmas 2017

Donation protected
It's already November! I can hardly believe it.   With the holidays, and family time, comes Kevin's Christmas.   For the last 5 Christmases I've had a smile on my face, and a heart filled with gratitude, because of all of you! I can hardly believe that this will be our 6th Christmas without my sweet boy. 5 years of stockings being hung, 5 years of decorating, 5 years of not having all of my children with me during the holidays. I really hate the last 6 holidays, but the one thing I love is the support that we receive from our amazing family and incredible friends! Some of you are new to our group, so I;d like to take a second to explain the why an the what of Kevin's Christmas.
It was the morning of Sept 14, 2012 that I found my sweet son, and realized he was no longer with us physically. The most excruciating day/week/month/year (s) of my life. September, October, and November came and went, I had no idea how I was going to manage to get through Christmas without my smiley Kevin! But, I found an amazing group that is filled with moms just like me. Moms that have lost a child. The group that absolutely no one wants to be a part of, and the one anyone would do anything to get out of. This was the year that Kevin's Christmas was born.  Each year we have worked on getting pajamas and blankets and other items for at risk families in our area.  Usually we support over 100 children each year.  So times 6 Christmases that's well over 600 families! That is HUGE!! Most of these kids haven't really ever had a Christmas, so it's a complete joy to bring such a happiness to them. This year we will again be working with Lost but not Forgotten, and their annual Christmas party, which is scheduled for December 9th. Along with that I am teaming up with Compassion Planet again, a group that houses aged out foster children. This organization houses and teaches kids from 18 - 22 years old. The "trainees" are taught the basics of living on their own, while  working and going to school. They are responsible for their day to day expenses, such as; gas, shampoo, laundry detergent, etc.
Last year we were able to supply blankets, and pajamas, backpacks, and stocking stuffers to the Lost But Not Forgotten kids, with that we also gave each of the trainees at The Compassion Planet house over $500 each in gifts and gift certificates.  We will help supply Christmas to over 150 kids!  That's 150 smiles on Christmas Day! My Kevin was known for his smile, so if I can't have his, I'll take the 150 others!
This year I am again going through GoFundMe. It was a seamless process last year, I could order everything at one time, and get exactly what we needed. My goal is still to provide pajamas and blankets for each of the kids, along with helping to provide tables and chair rentals for the Christmas party, and hopefully some little extras for stockings and the families Christmas dinner.  I am forever grateful for everyone that has helped with the last 5 Kevin's Christmas drives! It is soul healing for me and my family!Wishing you the very best this holiday season, and hoping that every second with your children is joyful.
As always, sending you a heart filled with gratitude and a huge hug!!
