Kevin Winn's recovery fund

I am doing this for my father as he is out of work and still recovering from emergency back surgery. His injury was originally obtained carrying a patient down a flight of steps on a volunteer ambulance call 26 years ago. Over the years he had various treatments but surgery was always not recommended. So in early November he received an infection in his leg that spread and inflamed his spinal cord. With the pressure his L-4 vertebrae that was already compromised herniated causing cauda equina syndrome which before surgery left him paralyzed waist down. He is making huge strides in recovery after staying in hospital then moved to a rehab center where between the two he stayed a month learning to walk and even potty train again. Since getting home his work had been good to him but has now had to lay him off. He will not be receiving a check after this Friday. Dad is s proud man and has been a volunteer fireman for thirty years helping his community and his dedication is where his injury originally occurred but that insurance ceased to cover it many years ago. He now has the cost of the surgery and medical bills after his regular insurance pays their portion. Bills are coming in and will be in the thousands with an eight thousand dollar deductible and then twenty percent after that. He will be In rehab and unable to work for at least thirty days they are saying. Dad has helped hundreds in need silently over the years when they were in need not wanting attention. And at first didnot want me to set this up. After being laid off he reluctantly said yes as he sees he needs help.
