Kevin White Memorial Highway Signs
Donation protected
I had been Kevin's direct supervisor in the past and was his second line supervisor at the time of the accident.
Kevin's life came to a tragic end Oct. 23, 2019 while he was working along the side of westbound I-94 in Berrien County. Kevin, worked for MDOT since 2010, he was driving a work truck along the right shoulder of the highway, when both he and his passenger got out to pick up some large pieces of debris. At that time Kevin was struck by one of two tires that had come off a passing semitrailer. He was quickly transported to Spectrum Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Kevin is survived by his wife Yolanda White of 20 years, and their beautiful daughter Taylor. He is also survived by many other family members, friends, and co-workers at MDOT, who will miss him dearly. The Benton Harbor community has also felt tremendous loss, Kevin was a trustee from 2012-2015, appointed as the township supervisor in 2015, then elected the township supervisor in 2016.
Kevin was somebody that always left an impression!
I have started this Go Fund Me to raise money for the section of highway where Kevin was killed on I-94 to be dedicated to him and have two memorial highway signs installed there. These funds will be used for the fabrication, installation, and future maintenance of the signs.
I would like to thank the Honorable Senator LaSata for putting in the bill request to honor Kevin.
