Kevin Walsh Memorial Fund

Kevin Walsh. When he wasn’t building community online or feeding the bodies and imagination of his two beautiful growing daughters with his partner Lisa, you would likely find Kevin on trails clearing fallen trees with his chainsaw. In everything he did, Kevin made the path easier for others.

On the evening of July 19, a few hours after his last Strava cycling post “Sideroad 10A/B then to Treesong.” (50.23km) Kevin was doing one of the things he loved most: walking with Lisa and friends. The group of four was struck by a car. The driver fled the scene. And Kevin died.

The others were hospitalized, one with critical injuries.

We, the members of his community, are now working to make the difficult path ahead a little easier for Lisa, Polly and Léa. Along with circling them with support, we have set up this crowdfunding page in their names. All support will go directly to Lisa. It will help with the immediate and unexpected costs related to the loss of Kevin, provide some security for the family and contribute to the girls’ future education. Some may also be invested in mountain bikes and cross-country skis for Polly and Léa as they seek their own adventures.

Please join us in making a contribution.

We also encourage you to let others know about these events and this campaign.

Kevin was vibrant and intelligent, quietly modest with a knowing smile. His passions were many; he pursued each with a tireless delight, inviting those lucky enough to know him to come along for the ride. Kevin’s life was a series of whole-hearted adventures, each concluding around a table, savouring a meal with friends.

In his life, Kevin was all about social and community organizing through his professional life and cycling, loving his children and protecting nature through his significant contribution to groups like the Kolapore Wilderness Trail Association. Under other circumstances, he would want to generate support for them. But you can do both. Please offer what you can, and then, in his spirit, pick up the chainsaw, bicycle, laptop or whatever tool you need, to make the path easier for others.

There is no question it is what Kevin would want.

Thank you for your support.

If you would also like to support Pauline Craig and Mike Reid please do so. They face a long and tough journey of recovery from serious injuries.
