Kevin Needs More Surgery

Donation protected
Hello it's time to update for Kevin, he is needing more surgery. He needs a stent put into his carotid artery. His artery is blocked 70 percent and needs surgery as soon as possible. Every time he stands up he feels dizzy, and a couple of times he has actually passed out from it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I thank all of you who read this. Thank you.

The Original Story:
Kevin Brown is an English teacher and also a single father, in Can Tho Vietnam. He went to Vietnam almost eight years ago to be with his then wife and his son, for the birth of his daughter. He has two children, a boy Vu Linh who is 11 and a daughter, Ngoc Thi who is 7. Recently Kevin was feeling unwell, and after seeing three different doctors, got the kind of shocking news that no one wants to hear - "you need open heart surgery, and the surgery will be a quintuple bypass."

Kevin's blockages are determined to stand at between 70 and 90%. One of the tests he had done was a DSA (digital subtraction angiography). DSAs are said to be 99% accurate. All of his arterial blockages were shown; by the results of the test he was told that open heart surgery is required immediately.

Before the true extent of arterial blockage was discovered they had him mentally prepared to receive heart surgery, but only stents. They said they needed to run a DSA to determine where to put them. The DSA showed that in fact there was nowhere to put them, as the arteries were too occluded. Thus Kevin has been presented with the monumental burden of raising the funds to obtain the far more expensive but urgently needed quintuple bypass surgery that he was informed that he needs.

More than one person has asked if Kevin has insurance as an option; and unfortunately the answer is no. Others have asked if he could come back to Canada for the surgery costs to be covered in that way, but again the answer is no. You see, Kevin is not named as the legal guardian of either of his children, thus if he leaves he cannot take them with him - he cannot legally exit Vietnam with them in his care.

He will not leave them behind; it is out of the question as certain risks arise for them, including even a potential custody battle, and he of course does not want to go there. Though he's not named as legal guardian the girl is his actual biological daughter, and from the boy's perspective Kev is the only father he's ever known.

Kevin needs to raise 250,000,000 VND to get his quintuple bypass surgery. This amount converts to $14,636 Canadian. He has already paid almost $1000 for a CT scan, a DSA plus other tests and for a hospital stay; and these costs were paid from his own funds. There will be more peripheral costs as well, but this campaign is seeking funding only for the surgery.

If you help Kevin with a donation it will be greatly appreciated. If you share this campaign to your Facebook page or to any other social media outlet, that will also potentially help Kevin in his quest to get his direly needed surgery. Thank you all so very much. Kevin appreciates the help you have given and will give.
