Kevin loved people, foraging, and nature. His untimely death has devastated a family and this is to assist in making the end of life arrangements to ease the burden for the family.

Kevin Patrick Guthrie, 31, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, formerly of Columbia, passed away September 26, 2018.

Friends and family will be received 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2018 with a funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. at Parker-Millard Funeral Services. Interment will be at Olivet Cemetery.

Kevin was born on January 15, 1987 to Kim Guthrie and Martha “Martie” Neal in Columbia, Missouri.

He attended Rock Bridge High School and worked at Village Wine and Cheese part time. He then went onto Culinary School at LeCordon Bleu Culinary Institute in Scottsdale, Arizona.

His love of cooking led him to become a chef in many high-end restaurants around the Minneapolis area, including Fugaise, Eat Street Social, and Borough. He was currently employed by Forest to Fork in St. Paul and was a Gentleman Forager, bringing specialty wild mushrooms and plants to the retail market.

Kevin was a martial artist, and while growing up wanted to be a stand-up comedian. He ran cross country and track and loved to dance, especially salsa dancing. He was an ace at trivia, did Harry Caray and Lou Holtz impressions, as well as impressions of his teachers and coaches. He was inspired by Anthony Bourdain, and liked Ryan Adam’s music and watching sports. His greatest love, besides his mom, was the outdoors and being around people and teaching them about nature and the goodness found there.

He is survived by his mother, Martha “Martie” Neal, of Columbia; father, Kim (Cindy) Guthrie of Fort Dodge, Iowa; brothers: Sean Guthrie of Columbia, Scott (Amy Long) Guthrie of Ashland, Missouri, Geoff (Rebecca) Guthrie of Brookings, South Dakota, Christian Guthrie of Fort Dodge, Iowa; sisters: Rebecca Guthrie and Cheyanne Guthrie both of Fort Dodge, Iowa; aunts and uncles: Michelle and Tom Parsons of Fort Dodge, Iowa Paul and Faye Johnson of Welch, Oklahoma, Dan and Marlene Johnson of Madrid, Iowa; nieces and nephews: Nathan, Brody, Peyton, Aadyn, Mackenzie, Joshua, Matthew, Megan, Leah, and Nova, and many cousins.
