<div>Hi, my name is Ally Houston. <strong>I healed my mental health in 2016 using a ketogenic diet</strong>.

<div>Since I was a child I had <strong>chronic anxiety, seasonal depression,</strong> and was diagnosed with <strong>ADHD</strong> as an adult - which made sense of a LOT of my childhood!

<div>I was so profoundly moved by my mental health transformation in 2016 that I decided to change career, from physics to ketogenic diets. If I could share what happened to me with other people, it would be worthwhile! I used to make laser systems for cancer research labs, and worked with the worldwide group that discovered gravitational waves for the first time. But I knew I had to help others transform their mental health like I had.

<div>Now, after eight years of using my physics background to study the nutrition and mental health literature, making keto food, and coaching people to better mental health, I want to turn my experience into an academic study.

<div><strong>Why?</strong>

<div>For some people it's enough to hear stories of people getting better, trying it for themselves, and transforming like my clients and I have.

<div>For others, more evidence is needed. I'm sure we're all curious, does this help when you really measure it scientifically?

<div><strong>What?</strong>
</div>
<div>We will have a group of at least 25 people with diagnosed ADHD who will be coached online in using a ketogenic diet for 16 weeks. They will also have access to the online MetPsy mental health platform. The 'control' group will be the same number of people who will be coached online to follow the Eatwell Guide, and will have access to the Eatwell Guide online resources.

<div>This crowdfund will allow us to start the study in 2025!

<div>I will lead the study. Professor of psychiatry Michael Browning of The University of Oxford will be part of the core team. Dr. Georgia Ede will also contribute. <strong>They don't need to be paid by this crowdfund because they are already working in this area</strong>. Having these world leading experts on the team is amazing value for this crowdfund!

<div><strong>How?</strong>
</div>
<div>With this crowdfund, we can test a diet that has already helped so many people, and enable big companies and doctors around the world to adopt this as a <strong>safe, effective alternative</strong> to medication and psychotherapy.

<div><strong>How will we spend your generous donations?</strong>
</div>
<div>The first £30,500 will be spent in the following way:
</div>
<ul>
<li>£22,000 for testing including blood tests and cognitive computer tests
</li>
<li>£2,500 to pay the participants
</li>
<li>£2,000 to pay the dietitian who will coach the control group
</li>
<li>£4,000 for Ally to travel to and work in Oxford with his colleagues for four weeks throughout the study year
</li>

<div><strong>If we raise more than £30,500</strong> then we will expand the study in the following ways:

<ul>
<li><strong>More participants</strong> will mean a stronger result for more convincing scientific publication
</li>
<li><strong>More testing</strong> to allow for better understanding of what is happening - we would like to get Nightingale Metabolomics, and Biomesight microbiome testing
</li>
<li><strong>Paying for wearable technology</strong> like continuous glucose monitors and Oura rings
</li>
<li><strong>More time in Oxford </strong>to get more done sooner and get this research out into the world
</li>

<div><strong>What Happens Afterwards?</strong>

<div>After the Oxford study, MetPsy will have the team and the knowledge to build something truly amazing - a mental health optimisation system that can scale to help millions of people.

<div>This system will use the latest AI technology and metabolic psychiatry principles to track how users feel, and match them to the information and coaching that will optimise their mental health. <strong>Your donation will help us to build this incredible system!</strong>
