Kerry's At-Home Recovery

Donation protected
My sister Kerry was walking her dog in February and was hit by a car whose driver was texting.  One split-second - and someone else’s mistake - has changed Kerry’s life and the life of her 14-year old daughter forever.

Kerry’s jaw was broken in half.  Her shoulder was shattered and her left arm was broken in 2 places.  Her right leg and knee was broken and her other leg was amputated during the accident.  She suffered a traumatic brain injury and was in a coma for several weeks.  Upon waking from the coma in March, Kerry could not move her remaining leg or either of her arms.

Kerry has been working very hard on her recovery since then, and due to her sustained effort and a lot of physical therapy, she has regained some limited movement in her arms and one of her legs.  Her doctor believes – and her family believes – that there is chance that Kerry will have the use of her arms and hands and might even walk again with a prosthetic leg as long as she receives the proper therapy.  However, her money is not unlimited and Kerry will require therapy for quite some time.

Please, if you can, donate to this campaign and give Kerry and her daughter the opportunity to reclaim at least some of what has been taken away from them.

And, even if you can’t donate right now, please share this message broadly, so that everyone can understand the danger – and the human cost - of inattentive driving.  Please, the next time you consider glancing at your phone in the car, think of Kerry.
