Kerri's Mason's Cancer Medical Fund

Donation protected
Kerri Mason is a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and an all-around wonderful person! She has a joyful spirit that pours out on everyone she meets. She and her family place their hope in God as she fights cancer for the 2nd time in her life. Kerri has just been diagnosed with colon cancer.

This fund has been set up to raise funds for Kerri and her family to help offset medical expenses for cancer treatments, surgeries and other costs that are not covered by insurance. Any donation amount is greatly appreciated.

Philippians 4:19, “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

Kerri’s Story

When Kerri was 8 years old she was diagnosed with cancer and it was stage 4.  Her prognosis was “poor.”  After two years of chemo, radiation, and three surgeries the cancer was gone.  The doctors couldn’t explain why.  God had worked a miracle.  So many people were praying, and God answered their prayers.

Fast forward to 2017… Kerri has been married to her husband Steve for 24 years (November 13th). They are deeply devoted to God, to each other and to their family. They have served in ministry together for many years. Steve has served as one of the pastors at Moody Church in Chicago for the past 17 years.

They dreamed of having children, and have been blessed with two beautiful children, Luke (17) and Abby (12). Kerri and Steve struggled with infertility for many years and came to realize that the God of miracles had a better plan for them. Kerri says that she can truly say she is grateful for her childhood cancer and the infertility it caused, because it brought her Luke and Abby. Both children were adopted from Guatemala.

Luke is a junior at Timothy Christian High School and recently got his driver’s license, which has been an answer to prayer. He loves wrestling and baseball and wants to one day join the marines. Abby just turned 12, and is in the 7th grade. Kerri homeschools Abby. Abby loves to sing, dance and act, and is involved in a children’s theatre. In addition to teaching Abby, Kerri also has a part time job teaching language arts to her friend’s children two days a week.

Now the life Kerri loves has been disrupted as she faces cancer again

When you turn 50 they tell you to get a colonoscopy, so Kerri did. She never imagined that they would discover that she had colon cancer.

Doctors removed 18 polyps beside the two lesions that are still there. Because there were so many polyps, surgery needs to be performed on her colon. Doctors recommend removing the whole colon, but because she had radiation as a child, her intestines are in bad shape, preventing that as an option. Now the plan is to remove only part of her colon, which means she will be at higher risk of having the cancer come back.

Because of the risks associated with her condition, Kerri will need a specialized surgeon, who unfortunately is only partially covered under her current medical insurance. Besides the recommended medical treatments that are covered by insurance, she will also seek additional complementary and alternative therapies that are not covered by insurance. Raising funds will lighten the heavy load that this beautiful family is carrying.

Kerri and her family thank you for your prayers, love and support.
