I am a Keralite, a Malayalee. Kerala, popularly known as 'God's own country' is the southern-most state in India, boasting a 100% literacy rate, and is an extremely popular tourist destination.
Kerala has received unprecedented amounts of rainfall this year resulting in rising water levels in all the rivers across the state, most dams having to open their spillways to let out the surplus water and landslides all across the state. Kerala is now submerged, with basic amenities, transport, communication and electricity being affected. This is the worst flood that has hit the state in 100 years with more than 300 lives lost and more than 200,000 people displaced from their homes in to relief camps.
My family in Kerala has been directly involved in the relief operations. They have volunteered at various camps and set up donation drives to buy and deliver various amenities to these relief camps. I am setting up this fundraiser to rally up support from across the oceans. All proceeds from this fundraiser will be transferred to trusted family members who will purchase necessary items and arrange for it to be delivered to the relief camps. I will post receipts of purchase and pictures of delivery on this website. Any amount that may be left over will be transferred to the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF).
In addition, I WILL MATCH THE AMOUNT FOR ANY DONATION WORTH $150 OR MORE.
Your few dollars can go a long way in providing assistance to the masses that have been hit with this terrible tragedy.Kerala Flooding: Hundreds Killed in Indian State’s Worst Rains Since 1920s
