Kenya Volunteer Service Trip

Donation protected

Hello, everyone!

My name is a Kaylie and I am a 2nd year IT : Programmer Analyst student at New Brunswick Community College, Saint John. In March 2018, I will be headed to Kenya on a volunteer service trip in thanks to a partnership between ME to WE and NBCC.

Let me tell you a little about ME to WE. They are a Canadian company with a vision to empower people to transform local and global communities. In addition to the sale of consumer goods that help us do good in the world through our everyday choices, they have been hosting volunteer service trips since 2002. These trips not only allow people to get out and experience our world but allow travelers to connect with communities through service work.

Service work done through ME to WE is focused on 5 pillars - Education, Water, Health, Food, or Opportunity. The volunteer work is driven by the community being visited and their needs. Travelers work alongside locals to help better the community and provide much-needed services to those without.

I am so incredibly excited to have this opportunity. To be able to give a little of me, to learn and gain perspective of the world we live in, it's an amazing opportunity.  I try to be a good global citizen, giving back to my local community and through various charities. As soon as this trip was announced, I knew I had to go.

As the trip is still some time away, we do not have information on the exact community or work we will be doing, but ME to WE is in talks with local governments at this time to find out where we will be most needed. Fellow students and I embarking on this journey will be spending the next 7 months fundraising both individually and through community events to connect New Brunswick with Kenya and do a little good in this world.

So to my friends, family, colleagues, acquaintances, or those who are looking for an opportunity to give back, I ask for your help in getting to Kenya.  I am looking to raise $5000 which would cover the cost of my trip (airfare, accommodations, transfers, food), immunizations, visa, and insurance.

I am going to give everything I have to the locals in Kenya. It would mean the world to me if you could help me do this.

Thank you so very much
Kaylie
