When Daniel was just 5 years old, he lost his leg to a snake bite outside his rural village in Kenya. At the time, he wasn’t sure if he wouldn’t even make it out alive but he hasn’t allowed that to slow him down. He is now a competitive soccer player, skier, and all-around athlete!
In 2012, South Korea invited athletes from places without snow to learn winter sports. Daniel knew this was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up! He’s now looking to return to the country where he learned to ski so that he can represent his country on a whole new level.
With Kenya’s only snow being on top of Mount Kenya, Daniel made the journey to the United States to train and gain knowledge from adaptive sports professionals. Daniel arrived in the US a few weeks ago with only a backpack, the clothes on his back, and a whole lot of determination.
Daniel will contiune to train and race this season and then will be returning to Kenya this winter, money raised on this GoFundMe will go towards Daniel’s travel expenses, training, and race fees for the next five years as he looks to continue mastering the sport. Daniel has and will work hard to raise funds while he was home in Kenya, but much more is needed to make his dream a reality.
Daniel’s drive to represent his country and strengthen the disabled sports community in Kenya shines strong. Daniel hopes that his story will inspire others to pursue their dreams, no matter the setbacks they face: “Disability means nothing. What is important in life is attitude. When you have attitude, we all move together.”
Let’s all come together to support Daniel in his mission!

Fund Distributuion Plan: The funds raised for Daniel are currently being handled by Jason Malczyk. Jason will be personally withdrawing the funds and will deliver them to Daniel. This process is needed because Go Fund Me does not work with Kenyian banks. The fund total is based on $10,000 a year, too help cover all race training, registration, equipment and travel expenses that relate to danials training, competing and outreach to other Kenyan athletes.
