Hello Friends & Family!
I am currently a psychology major at Cairn University. I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel of Kenya with the Cairn University Mission Team in early May of this year. Kenya has been plagued with the spread of HIV and AIDs for decades and is currently one of the most affected countries in the world. Children are orphaned every day as AIDs claims the lives of their parents and older siblings. More than 840,000 children have been orphaned to date by this epidemic. To put this number in perspective, the state of North Dakota has a population just over 750,000. Our team is traveling with these children at the forefront of our minds and service. While in Africa, we will be serving at an orphanage and in schools sharing the True Love Waits program. Additionally, some of our team members will have the privilege of assisting with the grief counseling of children who have lost their parents in recent years or are experiencing current conflicts.This may mean something as simple as holding and hugging a little one who needs to cry. It may mean listening and asking questions to help an older child process big life changes. No matter what the action, this service will be done to show and spread the love of Christ.
And this is where YOU come into the picture! I am in need of your support in two ways. First and foremost, your prayers would be greatly appreciated for myself, the other team members, safe travel, spiritual guidance and mission focus. A prayer team at home can be felt around the world! Second, your financial support would be appreciated as well to cover costs of airline tickets and supplies that we hope to take and leave there for the children/parents. PLEASE consider going with me on this endeavor in any way you are able.
