Kenya Clean Water Project

Thomas Rice and Julie Hornsby are studying Civil Engineering at Vanderbilt University and their senior design project involves designing a rainwater catchment and filtration system with a solar pump for a school/orphanage in Mbita, Kenya called Christ's Gift Academy (CGA).
The two students are hoping to travel to the school over winter break to work directly with school officials and get a better understanding of the site.
The area where CGA is located is known for having extended dry periods that put a heavy strain on their limited water resources.
With this, a trip to Mbita would allow Thomas and Julie to produce a design that encompasses all of CGA's water needs while ensuring that their team's end product would help the school for years to come.
