Kenson's Story & journey as he fights stage 3 kidney & Lung cancer:
September 1st-3rd Kenson had a few fevers, with vomiting. We thought it was just a stomach virus. The morning of September 4th we noticed he had a pretty good sized hard spot on the left side of his belly. We thought he was constipated also. So we gave him some baby laxatives.
Morning of September 5th it looked bigger & felt harder. So we took him to the hospital in Aurora, MO. The doctor wanted a ultrasound, but there wasn’t one on the weekends, so they sent us to Springfield, MO Cox Pediatric. They did an X-ray & ultrasound. That’s where they found the huge wilms tumor on his left kidney.
We we're then helicoptered to Kansas City Children’s Mercy Hospital. Where they did a CAT scan and confirmed it was in fact a wilms tumor.
Wilms tumor is a form of kidney cancer in children.

Our hearts completely shattered. Many nights & days of crying our eyes out, begging God to not let this be real.

We felt like nothing could get worse. On his scan they also found a spot on his lung. After crying & crying, we asked for lots & lots of prayers, as we also did a lot of praying. The next day they did surgery to put it’ll his port in.

Kenson now has weekly chemotherapy treatments in Kansas City. He so far has completed 7 weeks of chemotherapy as of October 19th!

He was scheduled to have surgery October 14th, but October 11th he tested positive with covid. So now his surgery has been pushed back to the beginning of November. He will have scans November 2nd, followed by surgery on the 3rd to remove his whole left kidney. After surgery he will continue chemotherapy for 1 to 2 years, along with some radiation treatments.

Update as of November 3rd
He had his surgery, they took his whole left kidney, the surgeon said it did have quite a bit of lumps with the Wilms tumor. They also took some lymph nodes and some of his ureter tube.
He has been in a tremendous amount of pain every since his surgery. He has a really really bad rash right by his port area so he has ripped his needle out multiple times. They ended up just deaccessing him and giving him an IV in his wrist.
He finally got his catheter removed that was very painful as well.
We are working on keeping liquids down and trying to move a little so his insides can adjust.

Results from his CAT scan on November 2nd.
The tumor had shrunk from the chemo so that was great but they can’t rule anything out with his lung. They think there’s something there they’re just not sure we’re gonna have to do a biopsy

12-1-20 HE COMPLETED RADIATION ON HIS SIDE FROM THE KIDNEY

UPDATE 12-7-20 multiple CAT scans has confirmed there is cancer on his lungs. He will now have to do radiation again on his lungs. They will also be adding another chemotherapy to the ones he’s already taking, to target his lungs directly.
