Everyone who knows Kenny Inman expects a pithy one-liner, a good story and a memorable conversation, whether you encounter him at the courthouse, the tennis court or in “his pew” at church. What no one would ever expect to hear from the vivacious 47-year old is, “I have cancer.” But the unexpected became reality in September 2020.
Kenny is a solo practitioner in Charleston, South Carolina, and the devoted father of Emma Helen. The diagnosis of head and neck cancer has hit hard and mandates aggressive treatment. Extensive dental procedures will precede chemotherapy and radiation at MUSC.
Despite Kenny’s devotion to his law practice, cancer is a demanding adversary that will command his energy and resources in the fierce battle ahead. Kenny is a proven warrior, having fully recovered already from a heart attack in March 2019. That victory was hard fought and cause for thanksgiving. But we know this battle is different and will require reinforcements.
If Kenny has ever made you laugh, offered a word of encouragement or supported you in any way, now is the time to return the favor by considering how you can best extend kindness to Kenny and Emma Helen.
Kenny’s greatest desire is for his 17 year old daughter’s life to remain as “normal” as possible. Kenny’s friends want to alleviate the worry this unexpected diagnosis has thrust upon him. We cannot bear the pain or undergo the treatment for him, but we can ease the tremendous financial burden. No donation is too small to make a difference.
