Kenneth W. Clement Boys' Leadership Academy in CLE

Kenneth W. Clement Boys' Leadership Academy is a premier  Prek-8 grade school in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. We are rooted in our mission to  develop leaders, promote brotherhood and academic excellence, while advocating for and servicing our community.  The Objective of Kenneth W. Clement Boys' Leadership Academy is to stimulate the ambition of its scholars; prepare and educate young men to be successful at high performing 21st century high schools;  to encourage leaders who are of high moral character and academic distinction.

We currently serve underrepresented scholars from all of Cleveland's east side neighborhoods and some surrounding suburbs.  99% of our scholars are African American young men with bright futures ahead of them. We pride ourselves on preparing young men to excel in high school and beyond. On the 2019 Ohio State Test, our 7th and 8th grade scholars outperformed the state averages for African American scholars in Math and English. We also sent over 75% of our scholars to high performing high schools. There is no other public school in the country like us!

Despite our unwavering dedication and success, we have seen our school's budget for the 20-21 school year decrease to 1/4 of the operating budget of two years ago. With the international crisis of Covid-19, we anticipate a great need for new technology in our building to engage our scholars in a hands on, project based learning experience instead of a focus solely on textbooks. We are introducing concepts of African American History, coding, and life skills, while preparing our scholars to become advocates in their communities. We are most excited about opportunities for our scholars to learn how to become entrepreneurs by starting their own businesses after engaging in multiple industries throughout the school week.

We are dedicated to keeping our scholars safe,  while also making sure they continue to learn during these difficult and trying times. We want to greatly contribute to the cultivation of  self-sufficient young men who can not only make money and think for themselves, but who can also support their families in a variety of ways.

We are seeking $30,000 to  purchase Ipads, digital cameras, computers and 3D printers.  We are laser focused on bringing programming  that will reinvigorate our course offerings while allowing social distancing in and around the school. Our scholars deserve the best and we will work tirelessly to bring them the education that they deserve.
