I have started this page to raise money for my daughter Kendall's fight against Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She faced  this horrible disease 4 1/2 years ago and beat it, but on March 20th was given the heartbreaking news that it had returned. A lot has changed since Kendall's first battle with cancer. She got married, became a mother to my beautiful granddaughter, Sofia, and has continued her career. Kendall first noticed a lump under her arm about a month ago and immediately contacted her oncologist. He ordered a PET scan to check for any tumors she might have and also ordered a needle extraction biopsy. After the results of both tests were in, it was confirmed that the Hodgkin's Lymphoma was back.  She has a key lime sized tumor in her armpit, an orange sized tumor next to her heart and a small tumor under her collarbone. Kendall had a central line (port) surgically implanted in her chest on March 28th. This is how the chemo will be administered to her during treatment. Kendall will undergo 9 weeks of aggressive outpatient chemo in her hometown of Medford, Oregon starting next week. As soon as the chemo is complete she will undergo another PET scan to confirm that the chemo has killed the tumors. Next, Kendall will be moved to Portland, Oregon to get an even more aggressive chemo that will be given to her over 6 consecutive days. We were told she can expect the side effects from this treatment to be the harshest of anything she has faced to date, and will certainly cause her to lose her hair. Then the final and most brutal treatment will happen immediately after. The final treatment is a full bone marrow transplant that will remove all of Kendall's bone marrow, treat it with medication and her own stem cells and then return it to her body. This treatment will happen over a 4 week period and will put her white blood cell count at zero. Kendall's body will not have the ability to fight off even the weakest germs so this will be a very delicate time for her and our family. Kendall will be isolated from everyone except for her mother and I, who will care for her during the treatment and the 2 week recovery.  This will be a very rough time for her as she won't be able to have any contact with Sofia during this time.

The funds we raise for her will be used to cover all of the outrageously expensive medical costs before, during and after her treatment that we already know her insurance won't cover. It will also be used for travel expenses to and from Portland, the 6 week housing for Kendall during the bone marrow transplant and recovery, and help with living expenses while Kendall is unable to work, which may be as long as 6 months. Kendall's husband Fily is working hard as a full time nursing student which makes it impossible for him to work at this time, so Kendall is the sole provider for her new family.

For all of you that know me, this is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. I am a person that loves to give to others but at the same time find it so hard to ask for help, but this is an urgent situation. So from the bottom of my heart and on behalf of my entire family, I thank you for any support you can give.  Please share this link and continue to pray for my angel, Kendall Joy.
