Hey y’all, Jason here introducing this fundraiser for Ken by his friends and family.

As many of you know, Ken has been going through some tough stuff in the past couple of years. Most critical, of course, have been recent serious health issues that have landed him in the hospital a couple of times (for, as Ken put it, “lung crap and other previously untended to issues that became overwhelming and immediately life-threatening”). Despite having insurance, the medical bills are adding up—for the hospital stays and for the gear he needs to keep the Ken machine humming. And, of course, each setback and the months of being worn down have taken as much of a toll on his financial obligations as they have on Ken’s body and spirit.

In short, dude needs a freakin’ break, and I’m sending out this call to the tribe to gather ’round our brother Ken and help him through a rough patch. A bunch of little bits will add up to a lot, and the funds will go toward medical and interrelated debts accrued during this downer time.

In addition to being an inspiration for living life to the fullest and seeing poetry in every weird, wild or mundane moment of a day, Ken is the most generous human I know … And I know that many of you would say the same. The man collects friends—from CV to North Park and Slab City to Hallelujah Junction—and has been there for so many of us when we needed him. And we still really really need him! So, if you got it to give, consider helping our bandleader get back on his feet. There are a lot more songs to sing.
