On Thursday, September 15th, Ken Holmes was in a horrific car accident while driving home. Another driver crossed over the median and hit Ken's car head-on, leaving him in a Trauma ICU bed for nearly a week. His injuries were extensive, with the most serious including a brain bleed that had been stabilized and a broken femur that necessitated a rod being inserted.
This GoFundMe was started to help support Ken and his fiance Victoria as they work to get Ken back on his feet. He will require 24-hour care and mobility assistance in the immediate future, evolving into rehabilitation and physical therapy for a long time. Even with health insurance, these services are not cheap or easy to come by, so we are trying to help him in any way we can. This fund will help ease some of the financial burden caused by this accident, which was in no way Ken's fault.
The outpouring of support that Ken has been receiving from friends, family and colleagues has been nothing short of amazing. The people who comprise the running industry have always been supportive of others' ambitions and dreams. They are always excited for others to acheive goals and better themselves. Helping someone overcome obstacles or limitations is the greatest part of what we do, and this will be no exception. He has a tight group around him that has thrown themselves into the role of caretakers. Through this fund, we will help not only take care of Ken, but support those who are selflessly putting Ken's progress as their top priority.
Any support is welcome, and positive thoughts are needed. This will be a long journey back to physical health, but we know that he has the right people in his corner looking out for him
