Ken and Sue McGuire Fire Relief

Donation protected
Ken, Sue and Arnold McGwire lost everything this afternoon in the Winnemucca fire, outside of Reno. Their family home since 1980 is a total loss. Luckily, another son's home on their property was spared.

They basically need everything. They had about 2 minutes to get themselves to safety.

From the Reno Gazette Journal:
"That fire was like a river of water coming down, it moved that fast," Sue McGuire said.

"They gave us about two minutes to get out," said Ken McGuire, a retired Washoe County Sheriff Deputy.

He was overcome by emotion when talking about the loss of an antique desk he and his father had refurbished more than 60 years ago. He also suspects a display case with badges and other items from his law enforcement career was burned.

The family says they have insurance and expect to rebuild. But they'll do so without photos and other heirlooms.

"Basically just the clothes on my back," Ken McGuire said of what he saved from the home.

They plan to rebuild, but before then, they could use some help. Anything is appreciated.
