Kelsey's Funeral and Relief Support

Donativo protegido
As many may know, our beloved Kelsey passed away on the morning of Sunday September 6th, 2020 at the age of 9. Her sweet soul left earth peacefully, wrapped in the arms of her loving mother, and surrounded with love by her daddy and brother.

To know Kelsey, was to love her. A ray of sunshine to all she encountered. Cheerful, Happy, Smart and often silly, she faced every challenge with grace, light, and perseverance. Kelsey was determined to do all that she set her mind to, and she never let anything get in her way.

At 3.5 years old, Kelsey had what appeared to be a childhood cold. After a week of no improvement her mother went with her intuition and took her to Children’s Emergency. After hours in Emergency, her results revealed every parent’s worst fear, Kelsey had Cancer.

The diagnosis was Nasopharyngeal Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma, an inoperable tumor that within hours of detection had taken her sight and some of her hearing. The tumor was pressing on the chiasm optic nerve causing damage and resulting in complete loss of vision. Unfortunately, the cancer had also metastasized to her lungs.

Chemotherapy and Radiation treatments were started immediately following her diagnosis. After several rounds of treatment, the scans were hopeful. The treatment was slowly shrinking the inoperable tumor and was showing promise in treating the cancer in her lungs. Great news for this optimistic family.

Despite the optimism of this little princess and her amazing family they were hit with even more devastating news in February of 2017. Kelsey’s scans revealed that the cancer had returned in her lungs and also just above her heart. This diagnosis would have Kelsey battling cancer for the better part of her young life.

After enjoying brief moments of reprieve over the years when the treatments would give her, and her family a moment to breathe and enjoy the simpler side of life, their world was once again shattered earlier this year. After years of hope, optimism and treatments, the cancer had advanced, but this time they were out of treatment options.

When faced with the news their daughter would only have a short time left to live, Kelsey’s parents both put their careers on hold to provide full-time hospice care for their daughter and enjoy every last moment with their sweet girl.

As Kelsey’s parents deal with the grief and heartache of losing their beloved daughter, and make final arrangements to lay their daughter to rest, please join me in helping with the financial burden that cannot be understated.

The money raised will go to funeral, burial and related expenses. Any money remaining will go directly to the family to help with finances while they have a moment to breathe and mourn the profound loss of their daughter.

Would you please hold the Chen family in your hearts and prayers as they find the strength and courage to face the days ahead.

Thank you to all who have supported Kelsey and the Chen family in the past, present and future.
