Kelsey's Brain Tumor Journey

As many of you may or may not know, my sister Kelsey was diagnosed with a grade two mixed oligoastrocytoma brain tumor in January 2016. The brain tumor was found after suffering a grand mal seizure while out to dinner with a friend. Kelsey was rushed into emergency brain surgery on January 18, 2016 and for almost two years has remained stable while taking daily medication, countless doctors’ visits and MRIs.
In November 2017, we received the unfortunate news that Kelsey’s tumor had grown back and was too large to try any treatments and the only option was surgery. On January 23, 2018, Kelsey underwent her second brain surgery. There is no cure for Kelsey’s specific brain tumor, so the chances of it coming back are very high. To keep the chances as low as possible, she will be following a specific treatment plan which is not covered by insurance and is extremely costly. In hopes to bring awareness and help those going through or have been affected by brain tumors, Kelsey has created a website www.kelseysjourney.com which will document her journey.
Kelsey and Philip have both worked extremely hard their entire lives to create a savings which has now been depleted due to medical bills and loss of income over the past two years. Kelsey and Philip are strong willed and independent and would never ask anything from anyone. That is why I am here today, to create this fund in efforts to help relieve financial stress and hardship for my sister and brother-in-law.
