Kelsey Stratford's fundraiser for SMA

In May I will be taking part in Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) UK’s marathon. I am an ambassador for the charity and the work they carry out is very close to my heart as me and my family have witnessed what it is like to live with SMA.
SMA Type 1 took my baby brother Karter away when he was just four months old and the doctors told us that his twin sister Kennedy wouldn’t make it past eighteen months old. But she is the strongest girl I know and she is still here, fighting.
For those of you who don’t know, the condition doesn’t affect the brain but it does paralyse you from the neck down and it prevents you from talking, eating, swallowing, walking, sitting, and, eventually, breathing. My little sister needs 24/7 care and my amazing mum and stepdad (heroes) are her full time carers.
Despite all this, Kennedy is so happy. She is constantly communicating with us and she has a rich life filled with laughter and love. She loves to talk, sing, and play and she is so smart and funny. We all love her so much and are inspired by her bravery and strength every day.
No one should have to endure this debilitating condition and that is why it is so important that we support charities such as SMA UK. They are dedicated to helping individuals and families affected by the condition by providing them with access to the best care, support, and drug treatments.
I am running 26.2 miles for Karter, Kennedy, my parents, SMA UK, and all the individuals and families they support. If you would be willing to sponsor me then I would be so grateful. No amount of money is too small and every little bit helps.
